Welcome 2013 !

This will be a short sad post 🙁 On the 3rd of January 2013 South Africa lost young Burry Stander in a tragic cycle/car accident. Our heartfelt wishes go to his wife Cherise and all his family. The cycling community world wide are devastated at this sad news. Time will heal the pain and Burry will be forever remembered as the talented and special man he was. Ride high in the sky Burry 🙂

Can you believe that the Tour de France is over for another year?  Well done to Bradley Wiggins 🙂 You have done your country proud !

Now we can get ready for the Olympics which should have us glued to our televisions. So much to watch and see the best in action in so many disciplines.

The Sivadia family did a sprint duathlon this weekend – 600m sea swim, 20km road cycle and a 5km run. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves but have decided that we need to train harder for the next one in August.

Keep training hard for whatever sport you participate in – summer is around the corner.

Right, so back for part 3 ! May sees the start of cooler Durban weather (well sort of) and darker early mornings and evenings. The 430 club have been very good with their Tuesday and Thursday road rides as well as cane rides on the weekends.

The first weekend in May was the KZN Duathlon Champs in Umlazi – thank you to everyone for a great day out and to the police for their presence on the road making sure the athletes were safe.

2 weeks later we took part in the East Coast Radio Big Walk. Some 22000 people participated in the 5, 10, 15 and 20 km walk. Well done Durbanites – you are awesome, coming out in your blue and yellow shirts on a fabulous Durban day. Again thanks to the organisers, volunteers and police making sure the event was a huge success.

The Sivadia crew were part of the 2012 Sani2c trail, adventure and race. They washed, lubed and serviced many bikes as well as drove and massaged. Very versatile group of people indeed 🙂 Great fun was had by all even though it was a lot of hard work and long hours and the weather was freezing up there.

Keep cycling everyone – we are a lucky bunch of folk to be so blessed by everything 🙂

See you out and about.

The Sivadia crew.
